Shareholder Torri Sherlin Named to The Daily Journal 2026 Top 40 Under 40 Lawyers List

The Daily Journal named Torri Sherlin, Shareholder in the Environmental Litigation Group, to its Top 40 Under 40 Lawyers list for 2026. The Daily Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 annually honors the most exceptional and influential attorneys under the age of 40 across California.

Sherlin is a key member of the Wildfire Recovery Attorneys team at Baron & Budd, where she and the team have recovered approximately $1.7 billion on behalf of public entities in wildfire claims, including a $360 million settlement on behalf of 23 public entities against South California Edison in 2019 for the Thomas and Woolsey Fires. Sherlin helped negotiate and draft a historic agreement with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services that reimburses federal and state disaster relief funds from the firm’s clients’ Public Entity settlements, which was the first accord of its kind in the nation. Currently, Sherlin serves as a liaison counsel for public entity plaintiffs in the historic and widely publicized Eaton Fire cases, where she represents 18 public entities, including Los Angeles County.

Sherlin was also awarded the Daily Journal’s 2020 California Lawyer Attorney of the Year (CLAY) in Environmental Litigation and is a five-time consecutive Super Lawyer. In addition, she routinely serves as a panelist at major conferences on topics related to wildfire litigation.
